Grange Resources Tasmania is on the lookout for a Apprenticeship Diesel Fitter to join our operation in Savage River.
Exciting opportunities are available for Apprentice Diesel Fitter to join our Mobile Maintenance Team at Savage River.
Based out of the in-pit mobile equipment workshop, these positions expected to learn all aspects of the Diesel Mechanic trade within their 4-year apprenticeship, and ultimately be able to carry out condition-based maintenance tasks inspections, conduct repair work on a range of machines, and to be proactive in understanding the health of all plant units in order to consistently meet or exceed operational requirements. The Apprentice Diesel Fitter is also required to exercise initiative in fault finding, diagnostics and problem solving.
Day to day
In this role you will be responsible for:
- Assist in continuous improvement and process development projects within the Mobile Maintenance Team
- Communicate with other technical and operational staff
- Assist in carrying out minor and major repairs on the Mobile mining equipment at Savage River
- Gain hands-on experience working on a mine site under the guidance and mentorship of experienced tradespeople and industry professionals
Who you are
To be successful in this role you have:
- Keen and hardworking individuals with a zeal for learning new skills
- Have a good mechanical understanding and aptitude
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
- Current driver's licence
- Computer literacy, including Microsoft Office

Grange holds long term supply contracts for one million tonnes of its annual production and offers the balance of its production to market via a spot sales tendering/contracting process.
Savage River
The Savage River magnetite iron ore mine is a long-life mining asset where ore is mined and processed before it is transported by pipeline to Grange's pellet plant and ship loading facility at Port Latta.
The Savage River worksite is only an hour and half drive away from the vibrant coastal towns of north-west Tasmania, which offers a fantastic regional lifestyle and is only an hour’s flight from Melbourne with regular services from airports at Burnie, Devonport and Launceston.
